Passionsky trotted cheerfully back into the camp. In her jaws was an unlucky hare. She had not even meant to be hunting, but this hare she could not resist. As she placed her prey down in the fresh-kill pile, she spotted Pearstar nearby. Curiosity grew in Passionsky. While she knew Pearstar was cautious around her, she did not see why. Pearstar seemed to only talk to her deputy these days, and Passionsky was eager to change that.
There were cats in the Clan who growled and snapped at Pearstar's feet, as if to doubt the tiny she-cat's ability to lead. But in all of her iciness and frostiness, Passionsky still remembered their brief interactions during kithood and apprenticeship. Again and again, Passionsky was struck by how little she knew about her sister. Their parents, and Plumdew in particular, had prevented her from reaching out.
But now that her once-sickly sister was Clan leader, there was nothing to stop her anymore.
"Hey, Pearstar," she bounded up to her leader and sister with very little inhibition. She waved her tail at the growing freshkill pile. "How is your morning? Prey has been scarcer but look at the feast I found today!"

She had been busy, so busy. It was unbelievable how much effort her leadership, and she tired so easily these days. Silently, she wondered if she was just getting old. As the winds changed and the moorland's grass rustled to the chill of leaf-bare, Pearstar was really starting to feel that chill in her joints. Her momentary dozing was interrupted by a cheerful voice. She blinked, looking up into the eyes of Passionsky. For a moment, her heart sank. The siblings had never been close, and Pearstar felt rather awkward around Passionsky. While siblings by blood, she had never cared to speak to her sister. At first, Pearstar assumed that Passionsky felt the same envy as their mother and brother did about her leadership. But in time, she saw that Passionsky was different. The carefree molly did not seem to hold anything against her, and in fact, Passionsky seemed eager to reach out. With a sigh, she rose to her paws and stretched. "The usual," she replied coolly, not wanting to appear too friendly. Pearstar was much more wary and composed than Passionsky. "I haven't left the camp, just talking to patrols and cats non-stop. Looks like you had good hunting though." She swept her gaze around the camp. It seemed like most cats were going about their duties by now. There was nothing else she needed to attend to as of now.
"If you're free, want to walk by the ThornClan border?" Pearstar asked her sister the question a little too formally. She simply wanted some company. Not wanting to make it sound like she was assigning Passionsky extra duties, she added, "I just need to get out of the camp.
